El Torero has been in chef and co-owner Michael “Mikey” Hultquist Jr.'s family since 1957. After the very sad (but hopefully temporary!) closure of Lerua's Fine Mexican Foods Mikey and his father, Michael Hultquist Sr., took over the reins from his uncle in order to continue the family tradition of delicious Mexican food. Nowadays Mikey is dishing out long-time favorites from Lerua's and El Torero's past as well as putting his own modern spin on things.
